The Industrial Arts Institute (IAI) in cooperation with the Charlevoix–Emmet Intermediate School District (Char-Em ISD), is hosting a Welding Academy for 8th-10th grade students on June 17, 18 & 19. Students will develop basic welding knowledge and skill application in limited welding processes. Three make and take projects are also planned for the program. Hands on activities and fun-filled games will introduce students to blue print reading, manufacturing, assembly, and applied mathematics.

Activities are aimed at showing students that working in a manufacturing environment can be rewarding and exciting. The course covers basic welding safety, Welding Processes, Plasma Arc Cutting and Oxy Fuel cutting. Students will also get a personalized tour of Moran Iron Works.
