Industrial Arts Institute (IAI), Northern Michigan’s Premier Welding School, will officially open its doors with an open invitation to the public on Thursday, May 29, 2014 between 4pm and 7pm.

Interested guests are invited to visit classrooms with interactive coursework and blueprint reading demonstrations, live welding demonstrations and a hands on opportunity to experience welding with a welding simulator. The Lincoln Electric VRTEX 360, Virtual Reality Arc welding simulator, will be on hand for guests to “put on a helmet and burn some virtual rod.” Craig Sumner from Lincoln Electric will assist guests with the simulator.

“This is the perfect training tool to try out your natural ability and hand/eye coordination,” states Craig. “It will give the participant instant feedback on improving body position and working angles.”

Guests will also enjoy snacks, beverages, musical entertainment, and game prizes. IAI staff and board members will be available to answer questions or provide more information about upcoming enrollment.
