STUDENT ATTIRE & PPE REQUIREMENTS
DRESS CODE POLICY
At IAI, safety and professionalism are our top priorities. Students are expected to comply with the following standards at all times:
- No bare arms or exposed skin during welding and grinding.
- Pants must be free of holes or modifications; denim is recommended.
- Hair must be kept tidy and contained under a welding hat and helmet.
- Clothing, helmets, and gear must be free of inappropriate language or graphics.
- Leather steel-toe or composite safety boots are required.
- Shirts & Hoodies must be flame-resistant (FR) and free of drawstrings.
- Jewelry—including watches, necklaces, and rings—is not permitted in the lab.
Students are also expected to maintain good personal hygiene. Daily attire should reflect maturity and readiness for employment, especially during employer visits and graduation ceremonies.
Dress Code violations will be documented and may result in verbal or written warnings. Repeated violations may result in dismissal from training for the day, with the absence recorded in attendance.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) aims to minimize hazards in the welding lab and grinding areas. All students, visitors, and personnel must wear appropriate PPE, including:
– Safety Glasses and prescription wearers must have side shields or goggles can be worn over them.
– Ear Plugs: Required during welding and grinding.
– Protective Clothing: Flame Retardant (FR) jackets or long sleeve shirts are necessary; no bare arms or exposed skin permitted while welding, cutting, and grinding.
– Gloves: Mandatory at all times; replace torn or oily gloves immediately.
– Welding Helmet: Should have an appropriate lens shade; for thermal operations, use cutting goggles with a shade five lens.
– Hair: Must be kept tidy and contained under a welding hat and helmet.
– Face Shield: Required over safety glasses.
