EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY & CAREER CONNECTIONS
TRAINING METHODS
Hands-on skill development in welding is the primary focus of our training program, utilizing approximately 80 to 90% of welding lab instruction each day. The remaining time is dedicated to classroom learning, where students review process-related topics and essential concepts that support their hands-on experience. Our welding training is skills-based and regularly updated to align with the best industry practices. We adhere to specific performance objectives, and our programs are tailored to meet the defined criteria for each stage of training.
We employ four effective strategies to teach welding:
1. Lecture and discussion supported by audiovisual aids to introduce key concepts.
2. Demonstrations to showcase proper techniques.
3. Supervised individual practice, accompanied by one-on-one instructor coaching, to enable students to integrate new skills.
4. Systematic, practical, and written assessments to ensure that students have acquired the necessary skills and comprehended essential concepts and theories.
Weld testing, both destructive and nondestructive, is a vital aspect of each skill course, aimed at alleviating anxiety around on-the-job qualification testing and bolstering confidence.
