Basic Welding
Course Description
This hands-on training course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary in various welding techniques. The curriculum covers essential topics such as welding safety, operating standard welding shop equipment and hand tools, welding power source setup and consumables, and an introduction to gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
Full leather, steel-toed boots are the student’s responsibility and must be worn to work in the Industrial Arts Institute Welding Lab.
An auto-darkening welding helmet, leather welding gloves, and a welding jacket are required for this class. Required items are available for purchase at IAI as a kit for $250.00
This training is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping, throughout the training period. While performing the training, the student will be required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
