Ornamental Welding
Course Description
This course offers instruction in ornamental welding, designed for students with limited knowledge of welding techniques. The curriculum will emphasize plasma cutting, GMAW (MIG) welding, and the forming and fabricating of steel and recycled metals. Participants will complete small projects while they learn to use shop equipment and common hand tools and then create a final small metal art project to take home. The final project must be within the student’s skill level and feasible to finish within the class time limits.
All leather steel-toed work boots, an auto-darkening welding helmet, leather welding gloves, and a fire-retardant welding shirt are required for this class. If you need assistance in finding resources to obtain these items, please contact IAI Administration at 989-733-4369.
This training is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping, throughout the training period. While performing the training, the student will be required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
