January 2017 - April 2017

  • Cohort: 8

  • Duration: January 2017 - April 2017

  • Number of Graduates: 7

  • Final Integrated Project: Gabion Baskets

Students completed a 15 week course of study with intense hands on training. Industrial Arts Institute partnered with the Lewiston, Michigan DDA to craft Gabion Baskets for a main street beautification project. Our 7 students, under the guidance of Certified Welding Educators (CWE), fabricated the project out of mild steel and steel mesh. This project allowed the students to utilize their training in Gas Metal Arc Welding Hardwire (GMAW). The project provided the students with an opportunity to further develop their fabrication, fit up, blueprint reading, critical thinking and teamwork skill sets.
